This Facebook album of photohraphs of a bygone Dublin is fascinating to browse through. Many parts of the city have changed almost beyond recognition (traffic on Henry St, car parking in the centre of O'Connell St, College Green almost empty of traffic...) and contrary to what some people would want you to believe, mostly for the better. Some of the pictures reveal a crumbling, depressing decaying Dublin. For all that it's horribly ugly, even the Stephen's Green shopping centre suddenly looks good when compared to the crumbling ruins that were the fondly remembered - but rose tinted! - Dandelion Market.
I particularly love this evocative picture of O'Connell St. The telegram boy on his bicycle, stopping while (what looks like) a glamorous Aer Lingus "air hostess" crosses the street.
