Cold Star is short film/music video from Germany (no dialogue though) about sexuality and acceptance. A yound man being bullied at a swimming pool experiences new desires looking at an older man. Forced on to the high diving platform by the bullies, help comes from an unexpected drag source, before... well, things get hot.
And the drag is the spit of Vanessa Redgrave!

American documentary filmmaker and photographer Jim Goldberg shot this personal and intimate video portrait of Robyn at a US festival in June. Shot on Super 8 it's a kind of audio-visual collage, layered with bits of audio from a phone conversation with her over her track Indestructable it manages to capture something of Robyn's spirit both as a person and a performer.

Over Time is a short film about a group of puppets who discover their creator has died, and have to come to terms with his death. In less than five minutes the film manages to be charming, sweet, funny, creepy and sad. It also seems to be a kind of tribute to Jim Henson - the Kermit-like puppets who at one point wear Swedish Chef style hats certainly make it hard not to think of Henson.

This impressive, smart short film was shot on a Nokia N8 phone (although I am an iPhone convert, I desperately miss the great camera on my Nokia) and after being screened at the Edinburgh International Film Festival along with other finalists, was the eventual winner of the Nokia Shorts 2011 competition.

This is a fairly exciting opportunity for young filmmakers. GAZE, Dublin's annual LGBT film festival, is running a competition in conjunction with Absolut to find and fund a short LGBT thened film from an emerging talent.
"The call for submissions to the ABSOLUT GAZE Filmmakers project launched today and is open to all filmmakers based in Ireland. The deadline for submissions is the 20th April 2011.
The first ABSOLUT GAZE New Filmmakers Project is sponsored by ABSOLUT and supported by Filmbase. The project is aimed at supporting emerging Irish talent in the funding of an original lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) themed short film. The film will premiere this August Bank Holiday weekend at GAZE 2011, taking place 28th July - 1st August 2011. The selected film will be assisted from script development through final post-production with both direct funding and in-kind support, in addition to receiving hands-on advice from established Irish industry professionals."
So, if you've got a short Pink Narcissus/Suddenly Last Summer/Brokeback Mountain/The Muppets Take Manhattan/Back Room Boys III in you just bursting to get out, get the full details and an application at the Absolut Gaze website.

Nah... didn't really think so. Especially 'cos he's like, really, properly naked, in long shots, and even waves his dick around in a jokey way. And that's after he's nakedly straddled another fella and pinned him to a bed. It's in a short film he made called Sergeant Slaughter, My Big Brother.
Well, even though I know none of you would be interested, I'll post it anyway, just in case there is one of you who wants to watch the film, and if you want to skip the boring naked stuff you can skip ahead when you get to the 2 min mark 'cos that's where he starts waving his dick about.
Of course, the film probably won't be on YouTube for long anyway, because YouTube have very prudish rules about nudity. Which is probably just as well anyway, because really, who cares about seeing Tom Hardy naked, right? Yeah. Like almost nobody. Practically nobody. Not me anyway.
