Even the road through the dunes to the beach was under water. So, change of plan and we went to St Anne's Park instead. I hadn't been into St Anne's since I was at a "Lark In The Park" with In Tua Nua back in the mid 80's sometime, and I was really impressed. I had no idea it was so big or so gorgeous, with wodded paths, culverts, bridges (very Ashford & Simpson "Solid As A Rock" video bridges!), spooky athmospheric crumbling follies and tunnels, as well as the broad avenues, manicured lawns, and cultivated beds. We were in one of the rose gardens laughing at the fact that all of the rose names sound like drag queens when we discovered a rose called Angela Rippon. Of course it totally makes sense that slightly nerdy rose cultivaters would be crushing on the dulcet-toned BBC newsreader with the famously long legs. She was always my second favourite British newsreader - after Moira Stewart. We went and had a coffee and a muffin in the lovely little weekend market in one corner of the park, and ouside there was this fun Hallowe'en headless horsewoman and ghost horses giving carriage rides. dublin \| penny for your thoughts \| people Comments 2 12 Oct 2011 P & P (pic Peter Fingleton) penny for your thoughts \| personally panti Comments 0 27 Sep 2011 How delightfully unexpected is this fantastic weather? I was really sure that it was time to dig out the winter woolies when this glorious weather arrived out of nowhere.
