I'm not even going to comment on this story in today's Irish Times about a gay prostitution ring being run out of the Vatican - with prostitutes that included poor illegal immigrants and seminary students - because shooting gay fish in a holy barrel is just way too easy.
“AT WHAT time does he have to be back in the seminary?” The question might seem innocent enough, were it not for the fact that the man asking it is a Papal Gentleman, Angelo Balducci, and the man of whom he is asking it is his pimp, Vatican chorister and Nigerian, Chinediu Thiomas Ehiem.
If Italian media sources are to be believed, then the compromising shadow of a highly active gay prostitution ring currently hangs over both the Holy See and unnamed Rome seminary colleges.
And on a somewhat related note, Sinead O'Connor has offered to help Jesus burn down the Vatican. No word from Jesus yet, though there are reports he was seen at a Texaco garage buying petrol and singing Mandika....

"This is a spintria. They were used in ancient Rome to request and pay for different “services” in brothels and from prostitutes on the street. Since there were a lot of foreigners coming to the city that did not speak the language and most of the prostitutes were slaves captured from other places the coins made the transactions easy and efficient. Italian TV is notorious for it's outrageously sexist depiction of women, where scantily clad, nubile, jiggling, and often surgically enhanced women are draped across everything from game shows to serious news programmes, and older female presenters are often pumped, plumped and stretched to compete. The situation has worsened since notoriously sexist Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi managed to gain control of the vast majority of Italian channels through his media empire.
It had seemed as if this was just accepted as perfectly normal by Italian viewers, but now one woman has objected and a serious debate has ensued.
When business woman Lorella Zanardo made a short documentary criticizing the depiction of women on TV, she had modest hopes for it - she hoped the documentary would be made available on DVD to schools and start young people thinking about the issue - but instead the documentary has become an internet sensation and national talking point.
