I often find myself out of step with the prevailing view, though in this case it's with the Daily Telegraph so I'm actually relieved rather than puzzled. According to the Telegraph, these are twenty one of the ugliest buildings in the world, but I love most of them. And even the ones I agree are ugly... well, at least they ain't boring, which in my book is a much bigger sin.
Check out the rest at the link.

He pays $800 a month for it! He has no kitchen and gets water for tea from a tiny bathroom he shares with four other "apartments".

When you see this you understand more why Faye Dunaway is so eagre to hang on to a rent controlled New York one bed.

John Lautner (no relation to Taylor that I'm aware of!) was an influential American architect who's buildings in Southern Caifornia helped define an era and have been (and continues to be) featured in many movies and on TV, from James Bond to The Simpsons, where they are shorthand for cool, modern, futuristc, and wealthy.
Here's a fun montage of his houses on screen.

OK, I'm guessing he's German from his name and accent, and I'm assuming he's gay because of his inflections, his friends, and his love of hair products. Yes I know I'm stereotyping, but I'm still pretty confident he's one of ours (and probably a huge size queen).
Regardless, his tiny apartment is pretty nifty. I particularly like the way the bed is under his tiny balcony.

Dublin Airport's swanky new T2 terminal opens tomorrow, though it won't be fully operational till January, when US customs and border officials move their operations.

Kieran sent me this because his company made the ad, but I'll let him away with it because the infrastructure nerd in me is excited for the new terminal at Dublin airport.

In fact, it's the biggest house in the world.

India's richest man, and the fourth richest man in the world, Mukesh Ambani, who is worth an estimated £18 billion sterling, has just moved in to this twenty seven story house in Mumbai with his wife and three children.
It has a health club, a gym and dance studio, a ballroom, a 50 seater cinema, an elevated garden with ceiling space to accommodate small trees, three helicopter pads on the roof, and there is also underground parking for 160 cars, and spectacular views of Mumbai and of the Arabian Sea. Oh, and 600 staff.
It's 37,000 square metres, which is more than the Palace of Versailles.
I can't believe there isn't a wig room. Useless house.

The proposed new Children's Hospital is already the subject of much controversy over it's location, and now that the design of the pretty massive project has been revealed, I suspect it's about to become even more controversial. The usual suspects will be horrified that it's too tall and too modern and Dolly forbid that anything modern should be visible on the city skyline. Though perhaps people will be somewhat reluctant to create too much of a fuss and be seen to delay a children's hospital?
