    Fuck the lot of them

Last night my friend Buzz O'Neill, well known club promotor and stalwart of the gay scene, was violently gay bashed outside The George by four asshole who jumped out of a taxi and beat him and spat on him while calling him a "faggot". GCN spoke to Buzz about it.

Of course people like the Iona Institute and all the other assholes, who claim they aren't homophobic but campaign to have gay people treated differently than other citizens, can take much of the blame for the fact that assholes like these feel they can violently assault gay people, because it feeds a culture where gay people are treated differently and seen as "other" and "less".

Fuck these assholes, but also fuck the Iona Institute, fuck David Quinn, fuck Lucinda Creighton, fuck the churches, fuck the Irish Times' John Waters (and while I'm at it, fuck the Irish Times for giving him a platform) and all the rest. Fuck the lot of them.

And please excuse my French, but those are righteous "fucks".

Press Ombudsman upholds complaint against gross Kevin Meyers article in the Independent

For the most part these days people ignore the witterings of unctuous blowhard Kevin Meyers, but you may remember this despicable piece of rubbish printed in the Independent last March where among other things, he claimed as fact that the "liberisation of laws against homosexual acts" led to 250,000 deaths from AIDS, that "the record of every society  shows that boys without a strong stable male figure in their lives are an express train heading for trouble", and that "Catholic adoption agencies have "closed rather than do something which they feel is immoral, which is to hand children over to homosexual couples".

Marriage Equality, BelongTo Youth Services, and a number of individuals complained to the Press Ombudsman and thire complaint was upheld on the grounds that the article was in breach of Principles 2 (Distinguishing Fact and Comment) and Principle 8 (Prejudice) of the Code of Practice for Newspapers and Magazines.

Here is the statement today from Marriage Equality and Belong To, and here is the full text of the decision as printed in the Independent.

    This guy is husband material

This is American football player Chris Kluwe, and in just a moment you too will want to marry him too.

See, another American football player called Brendon Ayanbadejo, who plays for a team in Maryland, recently spoke out in favour of marriage equality in the run up to a ballot in that state that would legalize gay marriage. This did not sit well with a Maryland politician and bigot called Emmet C. Burns Jr, who wrote to the owner of the football team telling him to "inhibit such expressions from your employee", or in other words, "tell your players to keep their gay mouths shut". You can read his letter HERE.

Well, enter our hero. Chric Kluwe plays for another team, the Minnesota Vikings, but clearly football isn't his only talent. He's also smart and has a way with words! This is the open letter he wrote to the bigot politician, and it is a classic burn. Owch!

    Dear Emmett C. Burns Jr.,

I find it inconceivable that you are an elected official of Maryland's state government. Your vitriolic hatred and bigotry make me ashamed and disgusted to think that you are in any way responsible for shaping policy at any level. The views you espouse neglect to consider several fundamental key points, which I will outline in great detail (you may want to hire an intern to help you with the longer words):

    1. As I suspect you have not read the Constitution, I would like to remind you that the very first, the VERY FIRST Amendment in this founding document deals with freedom of speech, particularly the abridgment of said freedom. By using your position as an elected official (when referring to your constituents so as to implicitly threaten the Ravens organization) to state that the Ravens should "inhibit such expressions from your employees," more specifically Brendon Ayanbadejo, not only are you clearly violating the First Amendment, you also come across as a narcissistic fromunda stain. What on earth would possess you to be so mind-boggingly stupid? It baffles me that a man such as yourself, a man who relies on that same First Amendment to pursue your own religious studies without fear of persecution from the state, could somehow justify stifling another person's right to speech. To call that hypocritical would be to do a disservice to the word. Mindfucking obscenely hypocritical starts to approach it a little bit.

    2. "Many of your fans are opposed to such a view and feel it has no place in a sport that is strictly for pride, entertainment, and excitement." Holy fucking shitballs. Did you seriously just say that, as someone who's "deeply involved in government task forces on the legacy of slavery in Maryland"? Have you not heard of Kenny Washington? Jackie Robinson? As recently as 1962 the NFL still had segregation, which was only done away with by brave athletes and coaches daring to speak their mind and do the right thing, and you're going to say that political views have "no place in a sport"? I can't even begin to fathom the cognitive dissonance that must be coursing through your rapidly addled mind right now; the mental gymnastics your brain has to tortuously contort itself through to make such a preposterous statement are surely worthy of an Olympic gold medal (the Russian judge gives you a 10 for "beautiful oppressionism").

    3. This is more a personal quibble of mine, but why do you hate freedom? Why do you hate the fact that other people want a chance to live their lives and be happy, even though they may believe in something different than you, or act different than you? How does gay marriage, in any way shape or form, affect your life? If gay marriage becomes legal, are you worried that all of a sudden you'll start thinking about penis? "Oh shit. Gay marriage just passed. Gotta get me some of that hot dong action!" Will all of your friends suddenly turn gay and refuse to come to your Sunday Ticket grill-outs? (Unlikely, since gay people enjoy watching football too.)

I can assure you that gay people getting married will have zero effect on your life. They won't come into your house and steal your children. They won't magically turn you into a lustful cockmonster. They won't even overthrow the government in an orgy of hedonistic debauchery because all of a sudden they have the same legal rights as the other 90 percent of our population - rights like Social Security benefits, child care tax credits, Family and Medical Leave to take care of loved ones, and COBRA healthcare for spouses and children. You know what having these rights will make gays? Full-fledged American citizens just like everyone else, with the freedom to pursue happiness and all that entails. Do the civil-rights struggles of the past 200 years mean absolutely nothing to you?

In closing, I would like to say that I hope this letter, in some small way, causes you to reflect upon the magnitude of the colossal foot in mouth clusterfuck you so brazenly unleashed on a man whose only crime was speaking out for something he believed in. Best of luck in the next election; I'm fairly certain you might need it.

    Sincerely,
    Chris Kluwe

P.S. I've also been vocal as hell about the issue of gay marriage so you can take your "I know of no other NFL player who has done what Mr. Ayanbadejo is doing" and shove it in your close-minded, totally lacking in empathy piehole and choke on it. Asshole.

And if you feel like telling Chris what a big ride he is for writing that, you can tweet him. I did.  @ChrisWarcraft

Did you know that very few gays live past 40 because their partners kill them?

Or that if you lick an ass and don't take a drug afterwards you'll die in half an hour? Or that a huge percentage of gay men molest boys in school grounds because the boys don't have AIDS yet? Or that Hilary Clinton "went gay" because she had a lesbian roommate in college who probably seduced her with Rohypnol? Or that gays become sadistic, commit treason, and curse after sex? Or that bisexuals "always" become insane? Oh, and lots more fun stuff!

This is the kind of anti-gay crazy I can get behind because she really brings the LOLs. Check out the guy behind her who can't contain himself!

This loon was giving "evidence" at a hearing regarding a proposed LGBT non-discrimination ordinance in Lincoln, Nebraska in the USA.

This is a lot more fun than I was expecting

A few weeks back a guy called Kirk Cameron, who was a child star on a US sitcom called Growing Pains, went on Piers Morgan's show and caused some controversy with his extreme views. In particular he hates the gays. In fact, he thinks the gay is not only "unnatural" but is also destroying the "foundations of civilisation". Your typical crazy fundamentalist Christian nut-baggery really, but I guess in the US people remember him as a cute child star so it caused something of a fuss. I guess it's hard to imagine anyone in showbusiness having those kind of views but, the crazy is strong in this one.

Anyway, in this video, a bunch of other ex sitcom child stars take poor old Kirk to task because they don't want him dragging sitcom child stars through the mud. And it's actually pretty funny.

    (thanks Joe)

    I did not know that

But it must be true if this batshit crazy pastor of a church in North Carolina says it's true, right? "Dr"(not medical) Patrick Wooden is getting some attention in American anti-gay circles at the moment.

According to him, gays end up having to wear nappies to stop their crap falling out, and the medical profession are partly to balme for all the gayness because they don't have the courage to stand up and tell people the truth about what happens to the gays: they end up having to get their asses stitched back together but they're so horny and degenerate that they go out and take it up the arse again before the stitches have healed properly.

I can't help but laugh a bit because when I was in primary school I remember the first gay joke I heard was something to do with old gays having to wear tampons, and although I didn't really understand it, I was already vaguely aware the joke was probably about people like me and for a long time I worried that maybe it was true! But unlike the preacher in this clip, I grew up.

Now this lesbian mum I can get behind

Last week I posted a video of a kid of lesbian parents telling Michelle Bachman that his parents "didn't need fixing". Like a lot of people, I didn't think it did much to help the cause - I thought it was cynical and uncomfortable to watch.

However, here's an entirely different, yet similar situation. Last week, the Mayor of the city of Troy in Michigan got in to a lot of hot water when a Facebook post of her's from last June came to light. In it she said, "I think I am going to throw away my I Love New York carrying bag now that queers can get married there". In the aftermath she was roundly condemned, and was reprimanded by other city councillors at a council meeting, and she did apologise.

During that council meeting members of the public were allowed to speak, and this lesbian mum stood up with her wife and her two children and spoke directly to the mayor. She was magnificent, and got a rousing standing ovation when she finished.

"My Mommy's gay but she doesn't need any fixing"

It's a bit fun to see Michelle Bachmann's face when she realises what the kid is saying to her, but mostly I agree with what I guess Bachmann is saying with her crazy eyes when she looks at the lesbian mum: "Lady, really?"

I'm sure most of you know Bachmann (insane loon running for Republican nomination for the Presidency, hates a lot but particularly the gays, quite possibly because she'd married to a flaming closet who runs a Christian councelling clinic that "treats`" gays who don't want to be gay) so obviously it's kind of fun to see her face when she finally works out what the kid is saying, but at the same time it's kind of gross. The kid isn't old enough to understand what he's saying to whom, and has been coached and prodded and poked and encouraged to say it, even though he clearly doesn't want to, so mostly I just feel sorry for the kid and annoyed at the pushy mother.

Though because this is the internet no doubt we'll have lots of people crying "child abuse!" and accusing the lesbian mother of being an evil cruel monster. Which of course she's not. My mother used to make me shake hands with the priest who smelled of chalk dust so the priest would know she'd raised polite kids. But still an' all, because it's so forced it loses all political potency, and actually, in this one tiny instance, I find myself on Bachmann's side.

    Lady, really?

UPDATE: This comment is on YouTube. Maybe I was a bit hard on the mother? I don't know. Make up your own mind.

"I took the video. We were standing in line, and his mom was ready to leave because we didn't know what WE were going to say. When we turned to leave, Elijah grabbed her coat and pulled her back, telling her to stay cause he wanted to tell Michele something. If anything, it was the other way around. He just got stage fright-- and his mom wasn't going to let him back down, because he was going to regret it. Please vote up this comment so people can see this explanation/back story."

Wow. It's not often that you see this kind of raw, naked racism on display.

An angry racist woman on a tram in London with a child in her arms loudly, angrily, unashamedly harangues a whole carriage load of passengers that she doesn't consider British because they aren't white. The other passengers show considerable restraint till an older black woman and then another white woman eventually let her have it.
