How it works and why it sucks. This short, interesting (and not at all boring!) video argues that rather than protecting and fostering creativity, the copyright laws we have now (the video is from a US perspective but applies equally) actually do the opposite and stifle creaivity.

There has been a lot of reaction to the Supreme Court's ruling that gives a gay sperm donor access to his child, which is being raised by a lesbian couple, because the ruling has implications beyond this case.
Brenda Power, who seems determined to make herself a figurehead for the anti-gay lobby now, has weighed in again. I won't link to it because it's best to ignore tantrums, but I'll paraphrase it for you:
"The gays were really mean to me! And I'm a delicate flower. Well now they're getting their comeuppance because the Supreme Court agrees with me that gays can't be a proper family and now their wild, horrible campaign for gay marriage hasn't a hope in Hell because the ruling says that families can only be heterosexual. And did I mention how the gays were mean to me? Really mean! They sent me letters and everything."
However, while the ruling does have serious implications for all "non traditional" families, her analysis of the ruling is coloured by her own mean-spirited agenda. Oddly, the Iona Institute's Breda O'Brien has a more reasonable and accurate analysis.
