Lorem Ipsum Page 1 of 2 1 \| 2 » 31 Mar 2010 A sad day for Dublin This evening, the Pigeon House chimney stacks at Poolbeg are being decommissioned. The generators that use the stacks will be powered down sometime after "peak" today and steam will no longer be seen issuing from the stacks. The future of the stacks is now uncertain, and there is a possibility that they will be demolished, though I would fervently hope - and expect - that Dubliners wouldn't allow that to happen. They are one of the few visual symbols of the city, and I think most Dubliner's regard them with great fondness. They are a part of our industrial heritage, and part of the city's imagination.
