John Oliver, who is standing in for John Stewart while he's off directing a movie or something, and a funny take down of the anti-gay stories of the past while.

Well you should. It's very fun, and it even starts off with an Irish "Once" parody.

I'm not a big fan of the tv talent shows, and I generally find The Voice to be boring (and I dislike that it pretends to be "all about the voice" when of course it's no such thing and is in exactly the same game that X Factor is in) but occasionally they do prove to have some worth by finding a real talent and giving them a platform to be seen by millions. Leah McFall from Belfast is one of those talents.
Amazing voice, and on top of that, it's incredibly difficult to take a huge and over-played classic like I Will Survive and totally make it your own in a way that makes you forget the original, like it's a different song.
Unless it's not original version and it's a cover of someone else's version that I'm not familiar with? Either way, she's got a great voice - part Patti Labelle, part Minnie Ripperton, with a bluesy touch. And so self assured with it. I suspect she's been plugging away for years.
Lots more of her videos here.

For viewers of an early 90's vintage, tonight's Graham Norton Show was one of those incredible feel-good, giddy tv moments. Will Smith doing the Fresh Prince theme with Jazzy Jeff on the turntables was fun enough, but then when Carlton comes out!
Right after that Michael Douglas came on to talk about Behind The Candelabra and he was also really fun, but Carlton was a hard act to follow.

No doubt readers of this blog will know Veda as a fierce queen, but did you also know that she has been one of the country's top stylists and fashionistas for years? Those looks of her's don't just fall onto her! She's a bit of a renaissance woman is Veda. In fact, I first got to know her many years ago when she was producing big events like the IRMAs (Irish Recorded Music Awards) or the ICAD Awards (Irish Advertising & Design) or the Smirnoff Fashion Awards (there were a lot of awards in the early Celtic Tiger!) and she would hire me to add a little, eh... colour.
There ain't much Veda doesn't know about fashion and styling, having worked with just about everyone and every publication in the industry here. In the last few years of course she has been styling the rise and rise of Katherine Lynch and has been responsible for the look of Katherine's best loved characters.
And now is your chance to learn Veda's voodoo.
Enda McGrattan (to give him his serious daytime-real name) will be teaching a 12 week course in styling for fashion, TV, and print media at the Belvedere Academy starting April 16th and Veda... I mean Mr McGrattan, says there are still a few places left on the course.
"Participants will learn all about styling for T.V. & photography, fashion show production skills and also get a solid grounding in the history of fashion design.
You will be performing a series of practical challenges and working along side make up and photography students to develope a portfolio of your work."
All the details are HERE and here's Ved... I mean Mr McGrattan explaining all:
