Than young people with ossified brains, unable to think for themselves, parroting the ignorance and hate and inane tripe that ignorant adults and religion have taught them? It's the very antithesis of what being young should be about. These 20 Young People Who Believe Marriage Should Be Between One Man And One Woman are American but you know full well you'd get identical responses from the idiots at Youth Defence, or at the Paris anti-mariiage equality rallies. Sad.

I don't know how old this clip is, nor what the exact background is, but it's delicious. A group of anti-immigration protestors in the USA get schooled by an angry Native American ("You're all illegal! We didn't invite none of you!) and there ain't much they can say back to him. Notice the size of the protest at the beginning of the clip, and then check how many are left only a minute later when the camera pans back around.

There are some really scary, paranoid gun-nuts out there, like this guy who says he'll be happy to "fire the first shot" in the revolution that is going to start of Obama tries to impose stricter control on the sale of assault weapons, and that he's "gonna start killing people".
This kind of insane paranoia is pretty much impossible for me to get my head around, but the internet is full of nuts if you go looking for them. In some ways it's stuff like this that I find more depressing. It's a long read, a blog post from Sam Harris, the author and well known atheist. Harris is someone I admire - I've read his books, and I consider him a rationalist - and yet when it comes to guns, his rationality abandons him. He is clearly blinded by his own attachment to them. For someone who usually brings an intellectual rigour to things, his arguments in favour of mass gun ownership are riddled with holes and he side-steps the obvious counter arguments so as not to have to deal with them. My heart actually sank reading it. Everyone has feet of clay...

This story about a Catholic priest in the US who had to call the emergency services after he "accidentally" locked "himself" into a pair of handcuffs, while similtaeously accidentally wearing a ball-gag, is currently burning up the internet. That's quite an accident!
His bishop has given him a leave of absense.
And to add to the mortifing hilarity, you can listen to his emergency call. Though obviously it's a little muffled!

This is a fun time-lapse of the space shuttle Endeavour being towed through Los Angeles on it's last journey - from the LA airport to it's "final resting place" at the California Science Center in Exposition Park - is slightly surreal. It's particularly bizarre - and cool - to see it squeezing down suburban streets trying not to demolish houses or crush trees.
